Train engine set to end
123-year trip
JACKSONVILLE — A locomotive that pulled the first train into town in 1891 is coming home to be displayed permanently on tracks set in the original railroad right of way below the old high school at Bigham Knoll

Engine #1 is the original steam engine that ran from Jacksonville to Medford on a 5-mile long, single rail track, a significant aspect in western US railroad history.
Construction Students Build a Better Community
The department’s newest project is the Jacksonville Heritage Society train depot. Students are involved in designing a wood cover for the historic locomotive, built in the same style as the original railroad station of the early 1900s.
